Mouse Trap Project MultiMedia (Version 1.0)

 Share what you know
----------------------------

-We know that it'll be be difficult to create and mouse trap for a power source

Define what you don't know?

--------------------------------------

We don't know how to create the car so that it will max out the distance it could travel.

Build on your knowledge and fill in the gaps

  --------------------------------------------------------
We know that it is possible to win the challenge , but we need to work very hard and communicate with each other. It is essential for us to work together to the best of our abilities.

What we need to do...

- other students, report what you talked about.
- other experts (engineers, designers, etc).
- share 3-5 youtube pages
- share 3 websites with instructions
- find 3 different designs, post pics, and comments on the pros and cons of each design.
- embed videos of vehicles, comment.
- insert photos
- provide links to EVERYTHING you talk about.

Rough sketch of our mouse trap car
                                                       Rough 30 second sketch

Group Meeting- Kevin And Matthew

- We discussed how we will gain more speed because the speed we are gaining is not good enough. We also discussed how the mouse trap car will stay stabilized while its taped on to the lego piece.

So far we know that we have to minimize weight to optimize the performance of our car...

Version 1.0

Parts we used:

-Lego
-Mousetrap
-Fish string
-Duck tape
We need to improve on speed and we need to replace the tires of our mousetrap vehicle because the tires have to much grip and it lowers the speed.

Reality Check!

Well so far the car has had only minor glitches that we have found and are trying to fix. . anyways,The car itself is small and light weight so it will go farther after the mousetrap goes off. We need to replace the wheels with thinner, lighter counter-parts. It was a fast build so it is a fast process to fix, change or scrap ideas. Which i turn gives us more time to make sure our designs are working thats the story so far.

Complete Trials
----------------------

1.) 7m
2.)7m
3.)8m(Switched pull bar)
4.)8m
5.)8m
6.)9m
7.)10m
8.)9m
9.)9m
10.)9.5m

Victory! It was close though... Brenden G and his partner were close in distance and almost won. Our car just passed by a few centimeters. I congratulate them for a close race. In all honesty they could have taken the win. It was really close. But after all that with a light car and a little luck we prevailed.

Questions for final post...

Lego would be the far most common material used in the car. The frame, wheels, axles and bricks were all lego.

For our main focus well we mainly focused on being light weight and fast. this gave us a slight edge on the competion. Most other cars focused on other things and didn't worry too much about weight but we did.
Our design never really changed much. The only thing we changed on the car is the pull bar by making it longer. Why change what is already awesome?
If we were to evaluate our group from 1-4 we would have to say at least a 5.5 out of 4. I know, I know... its past the scale but... Oh well. I guess we're just that awesome. >:D Anyways we were a completely successful group. We worked together and tried to help each other out. All in all we were a great team.
